How
would you characterize a person who exhibits
a gentle spirit?
What qualities hinder
a person from being gentle?
In what circumstances
do you allow harshness or an abrupt spirit
to occur?
Read Matthew 11: 28-29.
The gentleness of Christ
is described as a refuge from the stressfulness
of our lives. What did Christ mean when
He said: Learn from Me, for I am
gentle?
Read Proverbs 15:1-2.
When someone in your
presence is irritable or troubled, it
is easy to respond with the mouth
of a fool. What priorities could
help you respond in such a situation softly?
Can you think of an
example when you successfully responded
to anger with gentleness?
Read Galatians 6:1-2.
Can you think of any
incidences in which your mistakes were
met with a less than gentle spirit? How
did this affect you?
Why is it so necessary
to respond to a hurting person with a
spirit of gentleness?
Read I Peter 3: 1-9.
(Focus on v. 9)
V.9 instructs that we
are to give blessings to each other, specifically
in our homes. Wives are to have a quiet
and gentle spirit, husbands are to dwell
with understanding, giving honor. What
makes this teaching difficult at times?
This week, in what ways
could you make gentleness a more integral
part of your life?
